Pinterest Challenge #15: Mason Jar Soap Dispenser

I've been dreading this pin challenge for some time now. Ugh, I was not in the mood to hammer holes into a mason jar lid and then cut a circle out. Everyone's tutorial looked sloppy....just keepin' it real. It was a rainy day at work so I thought I'd give it a go. Here's the surprisingly simple tutorial...

What You'll Need:
-Mason Jar
-Liquid Soap
-Drill Bit
-Diagonal Cutters
-Glue (Optional)

Step One:

Unscrew your soap pump, clean, and set aside.

Step Two:

Grab your drill bit and then drill a hole in the center of your lid. Be careful when drilling, it's a bit easier than it looks, so the drill slips through pretty fast and you don't want to break anything, because then you have to deal with broken glass & blood, and nobody's got time for that...

Pick a drill bit about the same size as the widest part of the soap dispenser

Step Three:

Slip your pump through, if the hole is a little too tight, then use your diagonal cutters to snip four cuts to help open the hole a little more. This way the opening is still tight so that your pump doesn't wobble when you use it...that sounded dirty. ANYWAYS...

Step Four:

Pour in your soap of choice, you could also use lotion, hand sanitizer, or even dish soap! I made a dish soap dispenser too!

Now you can add some glue. I've seen people use everything from super glue, hot glue, and even aquarium safe adhesive. I'm pretty lazy, and it felt secure so I didn't add any to my soap dispenser, but I did the dish soap one...why? I dunno....

I used hot glue

Clean it up

Now twist your cap back on, and it's all ready!

Time for the replacement.

My basil soap in front of my basil plant...it's the little things.

This was way easier than I thought it was going to be, I finished it in like 8 minutes. The only way I really see this being difficult, is if you don't have a drill. So....yeah....

I would totally recommend this pin. Mason jars are like $2 dollars, so there's no need to break the bank if you want a nice looking soap dispenser.
